What is Bruxism?

Bruxism (teeth grinding) is involuntary clenching of the jaw, grinding and gnashing of the teeth that usually happens during sleep.
It is a condition that can affect adults and children and can occur during the night or day.
Most people don’t even know that they grind their teeth until they visit the dentist or their partner alerts them to the fact that they hear grinding noises when they are asleep. Parents may also hear their children grind their teeth when they are asleep.

What Causes Teeth Grinding?

Teeth grinding can be a result of stress. For example, some people grind their teeth when they are angry, concentrating or feeling anxious. Teeth grinding can also occur with the use of illegal drugs.
Some people don’t have any symptoms. Others may experience headaches, jaw pain, tooth pain or dental problems.
The causes of tooth grinding can be a result of:
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Alcohol
  • Smoking
  • Caffeine
  • Snoring
  • Obstructive Sleep Apnoea
  • Drugs: Antidepressants, anti-psychotics, amphetamines, cocaine

Bruxism is a habit that affects around 8-10% of the population. It is characterised by grinding of the teeth and clenching of the jaw. This causes tooth wear and breakage, disorders of the jaw (pain and limited movement) and headache.

Teeth Grinding in Children

Many parents will have noticed the sound of their children grinding their teeth at some point, often as they sleep. However, because children’s teeth and jaws change and grow so quickly it’s not usually a damaging habit that requires treatment and most outgrow it as they get older.

What’s best is you can easily fit it yourself in the comfort of your own home in an uncomplicated procedure, simply using warm water. It perfectly adjusts to your teeth and guarantees optimal comfort. Even better, it can be remoulded several times!

It is a patented medical device that creates a perfect fit and protects teeth against erosion due to bruxism, grinding and clenching of the teeth, that offers superior comfort without much effort.

It effectively relieves nighttime teeth grinding, excessive biting, jaw tension, jaw and joint discomfort, headaches, neck and muscle tension.

The bruxism mouth guard is made of high-quality medical grade plastic, free of softeners. The mouth guard can be worn on the upper jaw at night or even during the day.

The use of Sanabrux prevents headaches (headaches), migraines as well as pain in the muscles of the jaw. Bruxism can occur through the day or night.
